Transitions often bring challenges that test our resilience, yet it is through these very struggles that we experience the most profound growth.

My Path

Like many, my life has been shaped by changes and transitions. As a child, I immigrated to the United States with my European parents and was raised in Santa Cruz, California. This experience was challenging as we faced cultural differences and the isolation that came from lacking extended family and familiar community support. Over time, we cultivated a sense of belonging and grew to appreciate and love our new community.

As an adult, I started a business serving Silicon Valley, gaining firsthand insight into the unique pressures of Bay Area culture and the demands of running a business while managing staff. After a fulfilling 30-year career, both my industry and I evolved, and my work no longer aligned with my values and needs, leaving me feeling stuck. To move forward, I engaged in a process of self-exploration to find a profession that aligned with my midlife self, ultimately discovering a passion for therapy. At 55, I returned to school to study counseling psychology. This transition was challenging—letting go of my established professional identity and routine brought feelings of grief and loss. However, this struggle became a deeply meaningful experience for which I am profoundly grateful.

My Therapy Practice

In my therapy practice, I use a holistic approach to address clients’ challenges. I consider developmental stages by examining how current phases, past experiences, and future goals affect coping and change. I also integrate cultural context, knowing cultural values deeply shape experiences and support preferences. Societal pressures around career, relationships, and milestones often cause stress when they clash with one’s authentic self. Therapy also focuses on strengthening or building relationships and support networks, essential for resilience and providing a vital source of hope and connection.

My Qualifications

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I earned my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and completed my clinical training at Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC), a nonprofit mental health services agency. My experience includes providing school-based individual and group therapy to elementary school students, as well as providing comprehensive therapeutic services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families within a clinic setting.
