About Ingbritt
Transitions often bring challenges that test our resilience, yet it is through these very struggles that we experience the most profound growth.
My Journey
Like many people, I have experienced significant life changes and transitions that have shaped my personal and professional paths. During childhood, I immigrated to the United States with my European parents and was raised in Santa Cruz. This journey was challenging as we navigated cultural differences and were isolated due to a lack of extended family and familiar community support. Over time we built a sense of belonging and integrated into our new community which we came to love and appreciate.
During adulthood, I launched a graphic design business serving clients in the Bay Area. After 30 years of a satisfying career, the industry was changing, as was I, and my career no longer aligned with my values and needs. Seeking new meaningful work, I explored several career paths before discovering my passion for therapy. At age 55, I returned to school to study counseling psychology. While I welcomed a career change, the transition brought emotional and practical challenges—I felt lost and like I was trudging through waist-deep mud. Unexpectedly, grief and loss were the most significant hurdles as I worked through the loss of my professional identity, routine, and familiarity. Ultimately, this was a struggle I am profoundly grateful for.
My Qualifications
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I earned my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and completed 3,000 clinical training hours at CHAC, a community mental health agency serving Santa Clara County. My experience includes providing school-based individual and group therapy to elementary school students, as well as treating teens, adults, couples, and families at CHAC’s in-house clinic.
